Punarinta
Erithacus rubecula
Punarinta on talitiaisen kokoinen palleromainen lintu, jolla on oranssinpunainen rinta ja naama sekä ruskehtava selkäpuoli. Vatsapuoli on valkeahko. Kuten muutkin pikkulinnut, on tämä utelias ja rohkealta vaikuttava lintu rauhoitettu.
Punarinta pesii kuusivaltaisissa metsissä ja se on terveysmetsässäkin varsin yleinen. Punarinta saattaa pesiä myös puistoissa ja puutarhoissa. Se muuttaa syys–lokakuussa Etelä-Eurooppaan, mutta osa kannasta talvehtii satunnaisesti Suomessa. Kevätmuutto takaisin pesimäalueille ajoittuu maalis–toukokuulle.
Punarinnan laulu on kuin hopeakellojen helinää, ja se on aktiivisimmillaan hämärissä.
Robin redbreast
Erithacus rubecula
Robin redbreast is a ball-like bird the size of a great tit that has an orange and red breast and face and brownish upper-parts. Its belly is whitish. Just like other small birds, this curious and seemingly brave bird is protected.
The robin redbreast nests in forests dominated by spruce and is quite common in Hyvinkää health forest too. The robin redbreast might nest in parks and gardens. In September and October, it migrates to Southern Europe, but part of the population occasionally winters in Finland. The spring migration back to its breeding areas takes place from March to May.
The song of the robin redbreast brings to mind the tinkling of silver bells, and the bird is most active at dusk.
