- Students receive extensive bilingual education in Grades 1-6. Approximately 60% of teaching is in English and 40% in Finnish.
- Students have the opportunity to learn to use English naturally in a variety of situations while developing strong language skills and intercultural understanding.
- English is both a subject of study and a medium of instruction. Teaching is based on the CLIL approach (Content and Language Integrated Learning), where different subjects are taught through English.
In order to attend the English classes of Hyvinkää, a prospective student must pass an entrance test with the 60% passing rate. For the first grade, the entrance test tests the child’s language awareness skills. This means that the child does not need to know English as such in order to be accepted to the first grade. However, sufficient level of Finnish is required. For the non-native speakers of Finnish, we will arrange a Finnish language test.

Applications for Grades 2-6 are accepted throughout the year. Students may be admitted if places are available.
Supplementary entrance tests are held twice during the school year, at the end of both the autumn and spring terms. Applicants must demonstrate English and Finnish language skills that are appropriate for their age and sufficient for studying in a bilingual programme.
The entrance test for Grades 2-6 assesses the applicant's English and Finnish language skills according to the objectives of the relevant grade level. Successful completion of all sections of the test indicates that the student is able to study in a bilingual learning environment without the programme being overly demanding.
