The collections of the Hyvinkää Art Museum consist of Finnish art, mainly from artists
who have lived and had an impact on Hyvinkää and its surroundings. The collections
consist mainly of art that was created in or after the 20th century. The collections of the
Hyvinkää Art Museum are made up of the museum’s own collection, the city’s collection,
the donation collections kept by the museum and deposited individual works. The collections
include altogether over 2,600 works.
The artists Helene Schjerfbeck and Tyko Sallinen are among the most famous
artists who have worked in Hyvinkää during the past hundred years. Their central
works have been created here. Also the artists Jalmari Ruokokoski, Anton Lindforss
and Yrjö Saarinen have lived and worked in Hyvinkää. The vibrant art scene is
emblematic also of the current Hyvinkää. There is still an exceptionally large group
of artists living and working here.
